Are you sure you are using Ubuntu? We now use the automated installation mode "autoinstall" for short. See for instance https://github.com/covertsh/ubuntu-autoinstall-generator for a script and examples on how to add software

@Rinzwind the 22.04 Ubuntu desktop installer is still based on *Ubiquity*, which allows preseed files. OP, please specify exactly which installer image you are using.

I am using the official Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS image. to build the image, I use Cubic.
