Can't open files from network shares in GUI applications with Ubtuntu 22.10

cn flag

Since I upgraded to Ubuntu 22.10, I can no longer open files from network shares in GUI applications. For instance, if I open an HTML file in Firefox on my NAS, nothing happens:

  • I mount the share from Gnome Files (Nautilus)
  • In Firefox, hit ctrl-O, browse to the HTML file on the shared drive
  • Nothing happens

Drag and drop also does not work, and the same can be reproduced in multiple applications. For instance, while opening a video file in a network share from Nautilus in VLC works, opening the file from VLC (Media > Open File) does not. Working on files from the terminal doesn't cause any trouble. Opening an image from the Image Viewer works as well...

I never had any such issue before upgrading.

Any idea?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
