If resolv.conf not found what is DNS default?

ru flag

I have deleted the symlink /etc/resolv.conf. Am I right in thinking that stopping and disabling systemd-resolved prevents /etc/resolv.conf being recreated on boot? Or do multiple things try and recreate this file?

My second question is: if I boot Ubuntu in this state, how will it deal with a ping to abc.com if there is nothing at /etc/resolv.conf? Does it fall back to some other default? If I have some other dns service listening on 127.0.0.1:53 will it be found by default? Even in the absence of /etc/resolv.conf?

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
