Waiting or Force Closing

bz flag

Often times I will be running a program and Ubuntu will popup a dialogue box and say something like "Program is not responding. Wait or Force Close" or something similar.

The problem is, most of the time the program is still running just fine so I will hit wait and then almost immediately it will give me this option again. This happens over and over until the program finally works through the process and continues.

Is there anyway to prevent this dialogue box from firing?

No, there isn't a way to prevent the dialogue from coming and that dialogue is your friend. If you're sure the program is running you don't even need to click wait as it'll go away eventually.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
