Ubuntu 22.04 Primary Monitor Freezes after Login

sd flag

I have upgraded to Ubuntu 22.04 a few months ago and I've been experiencing issues with my display ever since. Sometimes after unlocking (after successfully inputting the password), the primary monitor freezes. It either looks like I've only typed half of the password or is completely black, but the laptop behaves as if the monitor was fully functional. It usually comes back to life after adding/removing a monitor (eg. closing and reopening the laptop lid, but if I have no external monitors plugged in, closing the lid locks it again). Once I even had the issue that the laptop completely crashed when connecting to a USB-C docking station with some monitors attached to it; it might be a related issue.

I am experiencing this problem on multiple laptops with different vendors and graphics cards. I have already updated the kernel once because I also used to have issues waking up from sleep, but I am wondering is the problem could be lying somewhere else. Do you have any tips on how to debug this issue and where the problem could be coming from?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
