Permissions for network file system

bj flag

Is there any NFS/cifs/smb that allows for setting full uid/gid and permissions?

I would like the files to be on the network so that in event the machine goes down, the data is still easily accessible and movable, but at the same time, I would also like to be able to use uid/gid to get the full benefits. Another reason is so that I don't have to deal management of the diskspace in Ubuntu itself.

Right now, I'm mounting a NTFS shared folder from Windows inside a Ubuntu VirtualBox guest. I'm aware that NTFS isn't able to store all permissions, so I'm ready to switch to any solution that works.

Any ideas? Thank you.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
