Ubuntu 22.04 not showing login screen after upgrading CUDA drivers and shows blinking cursor only with no keyboard typing

er flag

I installed PyTorch new version and I believe it automatically upgraded cuda drivers (not sure). After rebooting, it shows a cursor that blinks and only available screen is given below. I tried several suggestions but they don't work, e.g. reinstalling ubuntu desktop, reinstalling early versions of cuda drivers etc. What should I do? I can use tty2 or such with networking.

There are many answers here for installing cuda, and avoiding the dependency tangle. https://askubuntu.com/questions/1077061/how-do-i-install-nvidia-and-cuda-drivers-into-ubuntu/1077063#1077063 https://askubuntu.com/questions/1219761/cuda-10-2-different-installation-paths/1244010#1244010 Basically, on a fresh system, install latest Nvidia from standard Ubuntu restricted repos, Use the cuda .run script to install cuda, reject any driver, and specify a non system location for libs (take ownership temporily of /usr/local and run the script without sudo.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
