System Stuttering due to PNY 32GB USB3.2 Elite flash drive?

sy flag

A fresh install of 22.04 and had problems with system stuttering (mouse, keyboard, etc). Installed the AMD drivers after reading of others' successes. System stable for a week+. Today, inserted a new PNY 32GB USB3.2 Elite flash drive and the stuttering was back. Switched back to 20.04 (which has been very stable for 2 years) and, with the PNY flash drive inserted, it also had the stuttering issue. Removed the drive and normal system operation returned (both 20.04 and 22.04). Other flash drives work fine. Anyone else have this issue with PNY flash drives (USB 3.2, in particular)?

There was an AMD firmware bug (https://www.anandtech.com/show/16554/amd-set-to-roll-out-agesa-firmware-usb-fix-for-ryzen-coming-april) that affected USB. Updating to latest BIOS version may fix the problem. Other than that, monitor dmesg to see if there are error messages spamming when using that drive.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
