X61t wacom not recognised on Budgie

I am a fairly new user, so bare with me please :)

I pulled out my old IBM X61t hoping to breath some new life into it, and Budgie seems to run great, except it doesn't recognize the tablet screen or stylus.

I started following the instructions at: https://github.com/linuxwacom/input-wacom/wiki/Installing-input-wacom-from-source but I simply don't have enough experience to know how to extract the files and continue in terminal. Makes me feel like I'm just missing some very simple things. Is it possible to just use git to download the files and install them?

I know this seems so basic, but I'm hitting a wall.

edit: I managed to download the tar, extract the dir, cp it a dir I created and then tried running the build command they list in the instructions: https://github.com/linuxwacom/input-wacom/wiki/Installing-input-wacom-from-source#build--install

I get an error: ./configure: line 1534: config.log: Permission denied ./configure: line 1544: config.log: Permission denied Build Failed and have not gotten much further. I am not sure if this a result of the note they have about secured boot, as I am running Ubuntu Budgie... submitted a issue report, so maybe they'll get back to me. Many thanks.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
