PXE Foreman install of 20.04 fails as NIC is unsupported

tj flag

This is my first post so be gentle!

I am using Foreman to PXE install a bare metal server with Ubuntu 20.04. The install fails trying to configure the network. Further investigation reveals the Intel X710 NIC is not supported. All searches on the subject state that the ixl module supports the X710 NIC but how to I load the module and driver during an automated PXE install?

I note that during a GUI installation there is an option to load additional drivers but I can't see any reference to do this during an automated install.

Any help would be appreciated.

Why do you think the driver is missing? The driver in Linux looks like it is called `i40e` and I can see the `i40e.ko` module included with the 20.04.5 ISO. Are you booting Ubuntu or a Foreman image?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
