Sony Noise-Cancelling Headphones (WH-1000XM4) on Ubuntu 22.04 gets reset to HFP (Hands Free Head Unit)

my flag

When I try to connect my Sony WH-1000MX4 headphones to my laptop - running Ubuntu 22.04, it connects as Handsfree Head Unit (HFP) mode and if I click the Test Sound option - it is in mono mode. The sound quality is pretty bad.

On manually switching to the "High Fidelity Playback (A2DP Sink)", it gets reset to HFP mode. I have tried resetting the connection/ completely unlinking the Bluetooth device and reconnecting. It doesn't work.

When I connect the same Bluetooth headphone with the wire that came along, the sound quality is back to normal.

I want to understand how to diagnose and fix the issue so I can enjoy Bluetooth headphones of the same quality.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
