Clear DNS Domain with systemd-resolve

py flag

resolvectl can clear a DNS Domain set to "~."

$ resolvectl domain
Global:
Link 3 (ens192): ~. <--

$ sudo resolvectl domain ens192 ""

$ resolvectl domain
Global:
Link 3 (ens192):  <--

I'm using Ubuntu 18.04 which doesn't have resolvectl. My only choice is systemd-resolve but I'm unable to clear the DNS domain:

$ sudo systemd-resolve --interface=ens192 --set-domain=""
Failed to set domain configuration: Root domain is not suitable as search domain

Is there an issue with my syntax on systemd-resolve or is there a workaround to clear out the DNS Domain for an interface?

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
