I have a functioning Ubuntu 22.04 LTS desktop with multiple drives. Of note are:
- Plextor SSD 120Gb (/dev/sdb)
- a couple magnetic disks
- OWC Mercury Accelsior PCIe SSD (/dev/sdd; taken from an older Mac Pro, which OWC says works on PC)
Boot-Repair produced this output: https://paste.ubuntu.com/p/XR9VSXNwwZ/
The end result I'm looking for (at this time) is to just have the OWC as a spare drive with ext4. Long term would be to boot off the PCIe drive.
After installing the OWC into the PCIe_x8_3:
- I see it in BIOS.
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS will not load. System boot sequence stalls at or after "Verifying DMI Pool Data"
- Ubuntu 22.04 LTS LIVE CD boots up Ubuntu just fine, recognizes the OWC SSD, allowed me to wipe it from HFS and reformat it with ext4. This is the same LIVE image that was used to install the OS.
I am not sure if the issue lies with my Ubuntu installation, GRUB, or with the BIOS - given that I can make it into the LIVE CD.
Additional info:
I've tried configuring my BIOS as IDE, then SATA with no luck. I have another option for RAID (the OWC does contain two drives in RAID formation) but I haven't tried that as my other disks are not RAID and wasn't sure if something adverse would happen.
Motherboard is EVGA x58 FTW3

I did just notice as writing this that an older magnetic drive had a boot flag, I removed it via gParted but haven't rebooted since I'm typing on a LIVE image.
I really appreciate any help I can get. I've slipped a lot on hardware and don't really know much about PCI/PCIe. Let me know if you need any other information. Thanks!
