Issues with wired connection on 20.04

bz flag

Wired network stopped working after I switched from Gnome to KDE Plasma and back. I got it working on Gnome earlier, switched to KDE and didn't use wired for some time, today I switched back to Gnome and it doesn't work.

Please add output of `apt list --installed | grep -E '^linux'` and also `dkms status`.

All looks good. Let's have some more: `grep r8169 /etc/modprobe.d/*` and `sudo dmesg | grep r8169` and `lspci -knn | grep Eth -A3`.

You have r8169 module blacklisted.

Run

sudo apt purge r8168-dkms
sudo rm /etc/modprobe.d/r8168-dkms.conf
sudo modprobe r8169

There may be errors when you run first commands depending on what is really installed, but if the 3rd is OK, network should start working.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
