Difficulty getting Ubuntu 22.04 to boot

ch flag

I was hoping for a bit of direction on how to get my Ubuntu working, but I'm unsure exactly what information I need to add for anyone who might want to help. The computer is able to boot when I go to the GNU Grub menu -> Advanced options for Ubuntu -> Ubuntu with Linux 5.15.0-58-generic (recovery mode) -> resume normal boot. At this point the desktop appears and everything seems to work just fine

The computer will not boot when I power it on and let it go. At this point it gets a few lines of text, pauses, then starts flashing that text repeatedly until I Alt-Ctrl-Del or power off.

I've run the Software updater from the desktop and it tells me the computer is all up to date.

The computer build is an experiment. I got an old server motherboard with matching CPUs and RAM. Then I paired it up with spare parts I had lying around.

  • supermicro x7dcl-i
  • 2 Intel Xeon e5410
  • 8GB DDR2 ecc buffered at 667 MHz
  • Patriot burst SSD
  • Ubuntu 22.04

I found a few problems very similar to mine, except that this computer is not dual booting.

Welcome to AskUbuntu. The Xeon E5410 has no integrated graphic output. Either you should install Ubuntu Server or install a graphic card.
I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
