super-strange case - external 4k monitor

at flag

I have a super-cheap gitabyte brix device for watching youtube. It is connected to 4k display through hdmi cable, but since it is a super cheap device it only supports 1920x1080 resolution and that's fine - i can live with it.

After upgrade to 22.04 it's not showing anything.

I'm able to connect second monitor through vga, and then in display settings I'm able to turn on this 4k monitor by changing resolution to 1920x1080. Moreover, i can disable this new display (connected through vga) and my setup works brilliant. Main 4k display connected through hdmi displaying 1920x1080 and second display connected through VGA displaying nothing. FInally !

Sadly, if i remove VGA cable connected to not working second monitor, my first monitor is turning off...

Status before disconnecting vga cable:

xrandr -q

Screen 0: minimum 16 x 16, current 1920 x 1080, maximum 32767 x 32767 XWAYLAND3 connected primary 1920x1080+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 950mm x 540mm

xrandr --output XWAYLAND3 --primary --mode 1920x1080 (no error here)

After i disconnect vga table

(this command is typed without any visual confirmation because i cannot see anything at this moment)

xrandr -q

Screen 0: minimum 16 x 16, current 3840 x 2160, maximum 32767 x 32767 XWAYLAND3 connected primary 3840x2160+0+0 (normal left inverted right x axis y axis) 950mm x 540mm

This is driving me crazy.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
