Error reading /etc/hosts using nano-strict on Ubuntu Core

uz flag

I'm doing some development work with Ubuntu Core and IoT Management. Since I am used to using nano on Ubuntu Server I decided to install it and use it on Ubuntu Core with the following commands:

snap install nano-strict
snap connect nano-strict:home :home
sudo nano-strict /etc/hosts
nano-strict /etc/hosts

I want to edit /etc/hosts using nano-strict but I am getting a permissions error:

[ Error reading /etc/hosts: Permission denied ]

enter image description here

I was able to get around it by using vi, but I just like nano better.

My question is:

  • Is it possible to setup nano-strict so that I can use it to modify /etc/hosts (maybe via a snap connect command)?
I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
