Ubuntu 22.04 desktop icons disappeaer and reload

bo flag

A week ago I woke my machine up from sleep and the desktop icons were missing, but all those files were still in desktop directory in files and terminal. So I closed all apps and restarted the system to be safe. It loaded and icons appeared, but after a minute they started cycling randomly, from missing to visible. I opened the System Monitor and gjs had 3 instances and once was going away and coming back. I tried uninstall and reinstalling that app, but there was no improvement. I then found someone with a similar issue that had recommended reinstalling ubuntu-desktop, so I did that. For about a day it solved the problem, but then it reoccurred. Now I did notes both the gjs going from 3 to 2 and back, but now also file-roller is disappearing and reloading occasionally but mostly gjs.

Attached is a screenshot of the System Monitor with everything showing, as it's hard for me to grab the screen when it cycles quickly between missing and back.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
