Unable to connect to Wifi that requires a username and password

li flag

I am new to Linux and running a new install of Ubuntu 22.04.2. My university's Wifi requires a login with username, password, and 2FA with my phone, and when working normally, redirects to their own site to enter the credentials and request the 2FA.

I am able to connect to other networks like my home Wifi and a hotspot hosted on my phone, and it works normally (both require a password only). When I try to connect to the university Wifi from Network Manager, it gives a popup saying a password is required for the network, with no text fields, and two buttons for 'Cancel' and 'Connect'. If I hit 'Connect', it does nothing further (except auto-connect to the hotspot, if I've left it on and not deleted the connection).

I've also tried the command nmcli d wifi connect <university network>, and it prints Connection activation failed: (7) Secrets were required, but not provided.

It might be as simple as changing the data in the settings: click on settings (top right), select WiFi on the left side, find the connection and click on the cog by it. You then get a whole load of things you can change - it’s a bit of trial and error in my experience. Hospitals and universities in the U.K. seem to use wpa&wpa2.
I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
