Spoof IMEI in NetworkManager (macchanger equivalent)

cn flag

How can I configure NetworkManager to spoof the IMEI with a random number every time I connect to a cell tower?

For privacy reasons, I always configure NetworkManager to spoof my mac address with a random value every time I connect to a WiFi network (via ethernet.cloned-mac-address & wifi.cloned-mac-address)

Though this privacy feature (randomizing the WiFi mac address) has been built-in since Android 9, Android currently doesn't have a built-in feature to randomize the IMEI number.

While we wait for Android to add better support for IMEI randomization, I'm interested in using a Debian-based system with a WWAN card that can randomize its IMEI number (and as many other uniquely identifiable IDs as possible) that can then use a WiFi card to serve as a WiFi hotspot/router (instead of using an Android phone for this).

How can I configure NetworkManager to always randomize my IMEI number before connecting to a network?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
