Poor Bluethooth Earbud results on Ubuntu

bw flag

I use a USB bluetooth 5.0 micro adapter on a Ubuntu desktop for sound on an inexpensive set of 5.0 earbuds. The results are poor. A few feet away from the adapter they work, but drop out from time to time. If I get 10 feet away its much worse, and around a corner in another room it so bad to be unusable. On the other hand if I set my Android phone in the same location as the adapter and use it to connect to the earbuds I can easily get to more than 20 feet away and into different rooms with no disruption.

I've tried different adapters and different earbuds with the same result. I even found one adapter that an external antenna with no different results. I think they all use one of the rtl8* chipsets.

This is on Ubuntu 22.04, but I don't think its a new issue.

Is there something that work better?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
