UFW not blocking ip

ng flag

I have ubuntu 22.04 and have tried to block an ip as follows:

sudo ufw deny from 109.237.96.124 to any

I run ufw status which give me the following:

To Action From
-- ------ ----
OpenSSH ALLOW Anywhere
Nginx Full ALLOW Anywhere
Anywhere DENY 109.237.96.124
OpenSSH (v6) ALLOW Anywhere (v6)
Nginx Full (v6) ALLOW Anywhere (v6)

I check my access logs today and this ip is still showing up as attempting to scan my site.

Why isn't UFW blocking this ip?

From `man ufw`: *"Rule ordering is important and the first match wins. Therefore when adding rules, add the more specific rules first with more general rules later."*

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
