/etc/pam.d configuration Ubuntu - common-* versus system-auth

id flag

I'm trying to configure /etc/pam.d files on Ubuntu servers. I've already configured by RHEL servers by using the /etc/pam.d/system-auth.

Problem: Could not chdir to home directory
I believe this is because I haven't configured the right common-* file, however, is it possible to use system-auth (system-auth(5)) in Ubuntu aswell for all of my settings instead of /etc/pam.d/common-*?
I'm not using the pam-auth-update command.

I sit in a Tesla and translated this thread with Ai:

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
