Everything seems in order. I just can't get the device recognized! So frustrating.

UPDATE:

Following the suggestions here and here, I installed the firmware from thesofproject/sof-bin.

sudo mv /lib/firmware/intel/sof* some_backup_location/
sudo mv /usr/local/bin/sof-* some_backup_location/ # optional
sudo ./install.sh v2.2.x/v2.2

With an updated /etc/modprobe.d/alsa-base.conf:

options snd-intel-dspcfg dsp_driver=1

Still no change.

I've got the same issue on a 9730. A live boot with kernel 5.19.0-32-generic (e.g. Ubuntu 22.10) works, but doesn't work with newer versions. Haven't had the time to pin-point the exact issue yet though. So if you find it out - please share!

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
