Looking for Web Cam that can be remote controlled via Terminal

bi flag

Yes, question on how to capture a webcam picture from the command line has been answered before.

However, all the answers I could find are basically just about pulling the trigger on the camera. I want to also control the cameras parameters, such as shutter speed, brightness, focus... as much as the camera allows.

The reason is that I want to create a time lapse and I want all those parameters to stay consistent over a long time, so I can't rely on the web cam's auto mode.

Is it possible to control a web cam via Terminal like that? If so, what should I watch out for, when buying the Hardware? What Software would I need?

I’m voting to close this question because shopping recommendations are offtopic here

I am not looking for a product recommendation, but looking for things like: is there a console application that supports remote controlling camera settings like that? Does the camera need to support a certain standard for this to work? Are there maybe open source camera driver libraries or something like that?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
