Windows Long Filepaths Registry Setting

iq flag

Just a quick question for something, I can't seem to find out about online. When enabling the LongPathsEnabled registry value by setting it to 1, does this require setting on the client computers, the server hosting the file share or both?

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\FileSystem

LongPathsEnabled = 1

My understanding is that this will only allow certain apps to save files with long names, but in Windows Explorer it will still give errors when they try to open from the Fileshare. Are there any risks involved with enabling this feature? Is it better to leave at the default so that it has the character limit?

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
