How to Configure & Use Application Insights - Azure Web App

cn flag

I enabled Application Insights on an Azure Web App so developers can troubleshoot some issues. At the moment the APPLICATIONINSIGHTS_CONNECTION_STRING is the only app setting (configuration) I have added for application insights on this web app.

I'm not receiving any live metrics and the application map feature is only picking up the web app, not other resources we have the app connecting to. Are additional app settings needed for app insights to work? Ex: APPINSIGHTS_INSTRUMENTATIONKEY.

When I initially enabled the feature it added multiple app settings. Most were disabled or didn't apply to the java app we're running so I deleted them.

I'm not a developer so I will not be using the visual studio or anything like this to connect to app insights. As a systems administrator though I have the ability to view live metrics, failures and app performance when I view the app insights resource in the portal.

I'd appreciate any help or insight on how to properly configure and use application insights, thanks!

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
