/var/lib/mysql taking up large amount of space

cn flag

I have a very simple drupal project that I launched onto an AWS EC2 instance with 8GB of storage. However, something strange has happened and my EC2 ran out of storage. My mysql databases don't even take up 1/2 a GB, but my /var/lib/mysql folder has over 4GB allocated to it and I have zero idea why.

Where would I even start here to clean that up?

Look into the subfolders. Might be something like binary logs. Can't tell you what the problem is with so little information. Try installing the ncdu utility, running it in that folder, and including the output with your question. Also tell us a few sample names of files in subfolders that appear to be taking up most of the space.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
