URL Redirect does not work when pattern matches part of the redirect url

us flag

I want the wildcard pattern “mysuburl*” to redirect to “http://localhost/mysuburl.html” although I get a too many redirects error. The redirect is successful though if I use a pattern that differs in spelling slightly from the redirect url like “mysubsite*”. Why does the url not redirect from “http://localhost/mysuburl” to “http://localhost/mysuburl.html” when using the first pattern although does redirect from “http://localhost/mysubsite” to “http://localhost/mysuburl.html” when using the second pattern? This is on IIS.

It is fairly difficult for any other to guess what rules you wrote without presenting them directly in XML format, but you can help yourself by reading FRT https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/iis/extensions/url-rewrite-module/using-failed-request-tracing-to-trace-rewrite-rules

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
