Reverse DNS not returning some values locally, but works with other online servers

in flag

Our mail server is returning mail from Charter - reverse DNS failed.

If I use ping -a [IP ADDRESS] it just returns the IP address when it would normally return the domain name, and NSLookup just times out - both these utilities work fine with, say Google, or other domains and given that we get most mail it must be working as intended apart from this one domain.

However, if I go to MXToolBox.com or DNSChecker.org and run the IP in the browser form it works perfectly and returns the domain name without any delay.

Any ideas?

Thanks

==================EDIT================

It looks like this is an issue with OpenDNS, so I have raised a ticket with them

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
