migrate vps from linode to proxmox img not booting

jp flag

I would like to create a fallback instance of a VPS running on Linode to an on premise Proxmox.

I downloaded a raw image of the server using

ssh [email protected] "dd if=/dev/sda | gzip -1 -" | pv | dd of=foo.img.gz

then I extracted the image and created a similar instance on Proxmox and tried to mount it, but it would not boot, I tried different types of controllers (ide/sata/scsi) but it still dose not boot. if I open the file in 7-zip, I can see all its contents, if I run

fdisk -l foo.img

this is my output

root@foo:~# fdisk -l foo.img
Disk foo.img: 24.5 GiB, 26306674688 bytes, 51380224 sectors
Units: sectors of 1 * 512 = 512 bytes
Sector size (logical/physical): 512 bytes / 512 bytes
I/O size (minimum/optimal): 512 bytes / 512 bytes

I assume I should see partitions, maybe that is the issue

Thank you.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
