Windows Upgrade Removed Tag in Service Definition in Registry

vn flag

We noticed that after upgrading Windows in place (from 2016->2019), our custom driver entries in the registry lost their "tag" key. The tag key is necessary for the driver to load upon boot.

Furthermore, the sc.exe config command purports to update the TagID with the tag=yes parameter...except it doesn't.

We can manually fix the HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\OurDriver registry entry with RegEdit and recreating the tag key. But this is a customer support issue for our customers who do in place Windows upgrades.

Has anyone come across this phenomenon before?

thanks!

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
