how to differentiate between ping traceroute packet
cn flag

I am using python scapy to log ICMPV6 messages coming to the server. Based on type of ICMPV6 packet I need to take different actions. How do I differentiate between a ping request and a traceroute request. Based on the packet logs it seems the only difference is in size of payload data and hop limits.

API gateway cache every hour

My API is set up as follows:

API Gateway > Lambda function > S3

Every hour the S3 content is updated at the same time. How do I configure API gateway to cache the endpoint's responses but serve new content every hour?

For example

How do I prevent Bind from retiring non-expiring DNSSEC keys when using DNSSEC Policy?
eg flag

To control when signatures expire, I've switched to using dnssec-policy to generate DNSSEC records for my zones. This has solved the issue of getting RRSIG records to expire when they should but introduced a new problem of its own.

bind9 is now constantly attempting to retire my non-expiring KSK and ZKS keys. How do I configure bind not to attempt any key rotation when the keys never expire?

Can I setup an email server to receive emails faster

I'm subscribed to a web service that sends periodic email mailouts.

My task is to get these with the lowest possible delivery latency.

What can I do to minimize latency? And what is a realistic expectation for achievable latency? Is it in the order of milliseconds or seconds?

Supposing I were to set up my own email-server near to the server of the sender... what could I do to minimize latency?

How to share ISO files over PXE without mounting?
in flag

I have setup a PXE server with a local HTTPD server to host the ISO files

the config looks like vi /etc/httpd/conf.d/pxeboot.conf

Alias /centos-st8 /var/pxe/centos-st8
<Directory /var/pxe/centos-st8>
    Options Indexes FollowSymLinks
    # access permission
    Require ip 127.0.0.1 192.168.0.0/24
</Directory>

If I then mount the ISO to /var/pxe/centos-st8, everything works as expected.

Measuring bandwidth from a server - determine capacity of network

I am building a system that will serve video content, and am trying to determine the maximum throughput I can achieve.

I have been using iperf3, and initially, from a separate VM (in the same data-centre), I get great bandwidth (7Gbps). Then I considered that it might just be a within-data-centre bandwidth. I started testing from different data centres, but was quickly constricted by the bandwidt ...

Kafka - Get Ip address or hostnames connected to the cluster
bd flag

I have a test Kafka Cluster in AWS MSK with three brokers. I'd like to know how to get information about who is connecting to the cluster either to produce or consume messages.

For instance, MSSQL Server logs successful connections:

Login succeeded for user 'sa'. Connection made using SQL Server authentication. [CLIENT: 192.XX.X.XX]

Is there a way in Kafka to know who is connecting and from where?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
