Windows OS Version
us flag

I'd like to run containers on a Windows Server 2022. Unfortunatelly it says The container operating system does not match the host operating system.

My host ver is: 10.0.20348.261 (I haven't found any description of this on Google)

My dotnet image ver is: 10.0.20348.230 (which is probably the RTM)

Is it caused by installed latest updates? Is the best practice leaving the host unpatched?

Does traceroute use the same path?
cn flag

I was a little bit confused about the use of traceroute.

According to this

The traceroute command is used to see how packets are getting routed. It works by sending packets with increasing TTL values, starting with 1. So the first router gets the packet, and it decrements the TTL value by one, thus dropping the packet. The router sends back an ICMP Time Exceeded message back to us. And then the n ...

i'm in charge of a small r&d cluster that is currently running with 1 mixed control/infra/compute node(formerly "all in one" stack), 1 storage node and 1 compute node. The cluster was working fine. I recently upgraded the cluster to ubuntu 20.04 and the victoria release . since then, it appear the instances that are spawned on the dedicated compute node, cannot get ipv6 connectivity (ipv4 works fine ...

Cronjob Files Not Closing and 100% CPU usage
et flag

I'm running a php file every 10 seconds with a cronjob. While the system was running fine, I noticed last night that php was using 100% of the CPU and crashing the system.

When I checked with ps aux, I saw that my cron file had dozens of cron files in process. There wasn't even a reason for that when I checked the database. So my php page was supposed to return empty and finish instantly.

SSL with NGINX with .pem files
na flag

I need to add SSL certificate for my domain for my website on my NGINX server.

My domain provider gave me a zip file to download, which contains:

domain.cert.pem
intermediate.cert.pem
private.key.pem
public.key.pem

[For clarity: I did not rename 'domain', it is called domain.cert.pem]

I'm confused as to what to do, because all the tutorials I can find online require different files, some ending with .crt ...

Aws Private Network Port Forwarding

I have 2 subnets, one private and one public. I need to renew the certificate by using letsencrypt on the private subnet. I’m able to do this by creating an instance in public and routing (dns, iptables). How can I do this by using AWS services in a private zone without creating a public instance? i.e "Nat Gateway".

How to use a POSIX-compliant volume in Azure Container Instances
ua flag

Some Docker images like postgres and gitlab/gitlab-ce require the ability to set permissions and ownerships on files and directories, however this does not appear to be supported on Azure Container Instances (see here, here, here) due to the file shares being mounted as CIFS (SMB) and the underlying file system appearing to be NTFS.

Is there any way to mount an Azure file share or blob storage to my cont ...

I created a virtual machine instance through a custom image, added it to an unmanaged instance group, and associated the instance group with the network load balancer, but I could not access the MySQL service on the virtual machine through the external IP address of the load balancer.

DNSSEC Migration with only KSKs migrated
ma flag

Short version: If a DNSSec-signed sone suddenly replace both ZSK (and all records related to the old ZSK), and at the same time keep the KSKs (which are referenced to by upstream server). Will it cause any trouble? And will it cause trouble after the TTL of the zone/records expire?

Long version: So I am replacing a 2012R2 Authorative DNS-server (File-backed) which host a handful of DNSSEC zones.

How can I mitigate the risks of intentionally allowing users to run code on a server, in a resource-efficient manner?
us flag

To summarize:

I want to run multiple servers on a host, for different groups of users, and allow them to add and modify functionality of the servers at runtime with some form of scripting. This is a 100% necessary feature for what I want to do, but there is obviously a lot of potential for this to go horribly wrong; what are some actions/approaches I can take to mitigate the risks involved?

open-ssh server doesn't allow multiple logins on a LAN when connecting to public IP

If I am at home on a LAN with the server and run ssh my_username@my_public_IP it works the first time, but hangs the second time.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
