Add persistent bridge & tap Ubuntu 20.04 Server LTS
cd flag

I'm trying to create a bridge whose interface is a tap, both with static IPs, and have them persist across reboots.

In Ubuntu 14.04.6 LTS, this could be accomplished by editing /etc/network/interfaces as such:

auto br0
iface br0 inet static
    address 0.0.0.0
    bridge_ports tap0

auto tap0
iface tap0 inet static
    address 0.0.0.0
    pre-up /usr/sbin/tunctl -t tap0

and running

brctl addbr br0

How can a url param '?i=1' detect a browser?
in flag
Sam

profreehost claims that a '?i=1' url GET param can protect their servers. I wondered how. I did use google before asking question, but all the results was about they are for security and how to remove them (if you have ssh access). I wanted to know the principles and maybe try to implement one for my own (on a vps) site. I guess the answer lies at the behavior of browsers.

Mysqldump really slow when dumping to network drive
cn flag

I'm facing an issue when dumping a mysql database to the network drive. The thing is I'm getting really slow speeds (around 3-7mb/s).

Dumping locally, the speed is fine. I've coded my own program that performs automatic backups 4 times per day and dumps from main server (windows vps) to a Linux vps’s samba server. Both of the servers have 1gb/s port speed. The thing is, for example when I manua ...

Can't ping PetaLinux machine if both NICs on same subnet and unplug eth0

I have a PetaLinux machine (Embedded Linux on a Xilinx Zynq device, debian fork, kernel 4.19). If the two NICs are on different subnets, then I can disconnect one NIC, and the other will continue working. But if they are on the same subnet, then disconnecting eth0 will render both unreachable. (Disconnecting eth1 is fine.) Also, if the addresses are acquired by DHCP, then disconnecting the plug for eth0 i ...

Could somebody please help me understand how to correctly configure bridge host shown on the picture?

I’m relatively new to all this, so please bear with me. Most of everything I know is based on guesswork, following tutorials, trial & error…

Anyway, I have a pretty basic LAMP server going on Ubuntu Server 20.04, with some other stuff like WordPress, Postfix, Dovecot, etc. At the moment, everything functions as it should, but I did not realise my DNS MX records display my website in your  ...

Can I run an on-premise domain with only Azure AD?

I am looking to upgrade some of the systems for my church and wanted to run some questions. We currently are running on an antiquated version of Windows Server 2008 R2. This server has AD, DNS, users, PCs, etc. As we make upgrades I am curious to know if I can run the domain completely out of the Microsoft cloud. So, can I have AD running purely from Azure and then users with O365 subscriptions that are ...

I have a domain name, say example.com, and many servers (potentially hundreds), each with a public IP and a sub domain (sub1.example.com, sub2.example.com, etc.). In Postfix, how can I find the recipient address using Message-ID?

I have an abuse report for an email which only contains a message ID. How can I find the recipient email address in Postfix sent emails?

I searched the logs with cat /var/log/mail.log } grep [ID] -C 20 but the message details I see do not appear to be the right email because the mail server host does not match the abuse report.. I can't determine if I'm getting the queue ID or the message ID.

I am an absolute 0 in network science and I would like to understand it a little bit.

We have an offline machine connected to a switch, which is also connected to a series of other hardware that control various motors and sensors. In this offline computer you just type on the webbrowser the ip address of such hardware and can already control them.

Because of some home-office rules, we would like to  ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
