Ansible Mount AD Auth Protected NFS and Copy Files
gw flag

I'm trying to use Ansible to backup a folder once a day and then store the backups on an NFS for archiving but I'm not really sure how to get started with this.

I'd want to mount this NFS temporarily since it's only needed for the duration of the archiving job.

The NFS is protected by Active Directory Authentication.

Any ideas how I would go about this?

Is there any way to limit users to certain home directories with sftp on Ubuntu OS 20.04 and giving them write access to their directory?'

I was able to keep each user to only see their directory and not browse any other directories. However, they can't write to their directory now. Below is the config for /etc/ssh/sshd_config

What is the right way to assign Network Contributor Role to an AKS cluster via ARM / Bicep template?
cn flag

I'm trying to configure a Load Balancer for my AKS server using Bicep/ARM. I am using the NGinx Ingress Controller in kubernetes and it does seem to work but when I first spin things up I am encountering an error.

Mainly I'm wondering what is the equivalent ARM or Bicep template for this step in the Azure documentation?

Trying to improve Azure AD role assignments without breaking everything

I'm trying to remove most users from the Azure AD Global Admin role in favor of dedicated admin accounts and/or use something like PIM.

My question is; If a user granted permissions for an Enterprise App, created a security token for app registrations, or some other process that required the admin privilege they had at that time, will removing them as a global admin and leaving them a normal user br ...

One DC is pulling FSMO from an AD server that doesn't exist, other DC sees FSMO AOK
nr flag

I have 2 DC, one onpremDC, one hostedDC. There was some previous work where an RDS server was made a DC and FSMO moved to it, then the hostedDC was made the DC & FSMO moved to it, then AD removed from the RDS server. However, the onpremDC still sees the RDSserver as holding all the FSMO (even though it is no longer an AD server). Each DC was only pointing to itself for DNS, so I fixed that, however  ...

So far so good.

Manage Services within Azure VM from Automation Runbook
cn flag

I'm looking to use Azure Runbooks (powershell) to automate the shutdown/startup process of a few Azure virtual machines. The VM's are running 3rd party reporting tools, some of which take a few minutes to start and stop services.

I was wondering if there's a way to control the services running on Azure VM's using runbooks, i.e the stopping/starting the 3rd party reporting tools I mentioned above. Ideally  ...

I am running these, but I am not sure how to be 100% sure what's causing the issue. I did top and saw that idle time was low and I/O wait was high and CPU user time was high, I think the culprit is a rsync process, but the top process always shows me that the mysqld process is the process that uses the most CPU. My ISP keeps changing the zzzz bit, and it also changes when restarting the router.

Application deployed to Kubernetes pod was creating pod successfully in Jenkins-X 2 but fails on Jenkins-X 3

I've inherited an application I need to deploy inside the cluster as a persistent pod to have access to other resources, but which only runs on demand when a user kubectl execs into the pod. At initialisation I don't need it to do anything at all other than make the pod available for a user to exec into at a later date.

This works fine on our old Jenkins-X 2 cluster, but the new Jenkinx-X 3 version i ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
