Registry keys for pending reboot missing
br flag

I'm trying to find a way to check if a computer has a pending reboot using the registry, but the expected registry keys don't seem to be present. On a test computer I'll run the simple command shutdown /r /t 3600, and then check all of the values here. However, none of those value are present on the computer, and alternating commands between shutdown /r /t 3600 and shutdown /a seems to have no effect on ...

Routing only the private network in wireguard VPN
in flag

I have a few hosts behind a NAT router that I want to access via a wireguard VPN. I could successfully configure the private network, but there's still something that baffles me.

I want each peer to:

  • access each other (172.9.9.*) via the VPN (via wg0)
  • access every other host outside the VPN (via eth0).

Here's a schema of the network and current configuration:

How to allow Envoy process HTTP/2 over cleartext?
us flag

We have a service architecture hidden behind an Envoy proxy, that is in turn hidden behind a Nginx acting as a proxy and a TLS termination handler, therefore all internal communications are passed without any encryption. Some time ago the proxy has been updated to handle HTTP/2 over TLS due to external request, which made Nginx forward request to our Envoy with HTTP/2, which it rejected, then Nginx trie ...

What is SNI (with specific reference to Plivo)

Plivo have announced that they are depreciating their Legacy Messaging API for SNI. I've been unable to find any documentation on the topic (ideally with code samples) on their portal.

I'm not been able to figure out how to configure my end point to use this technology.

Would it be possible to implement SNI using STunnel thereby avoiding a code overhaul? My existing solution would tunnel through ST ...

Why is my Internet Explorer group policy ignored?

In light of the recently discovered MSHTML vulnerability (and because it's a good idea in general), I want to disallow downloading of ActiveX components via group policy. However, it appears that my policy settings are ignored.

Here's my group policy setting:

Container Logs Missing in Cloud Logging UI

I'm in the process of setting up our Kubernetes infrastructure. Our GKE cluster is up and running. I have successfully deployed a test service which is reachable and behaves as it should.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
