How would I configure grub to skip the menu or set a timeout?
cn flag

I was able to successfully configure PXE and pressed to get an entirely automated install running except for 1 issue: The GRUB menu pauses indefinitely until the user selects an option.

I've got my grub configured with only a single menu option called Install which kicks off into the installation process. I want it to skip that menu or I'd like to be able to set a time-out on it so that my data ...

DNS Newbie and my site is not resolving. It was working properly yesterday. (I think it may be nameserver issue but not sure)

My first post here and thank you in advance for taking a look. My website (bestwaytodothat.com) is currently not loading. A little bit of background:

I xferred the domain from Name.com to AWS Route 53 about a week ago and updated the nameservers to the AWS nameservers.

Current nameservers as seen in my AWS Route 53 are:

  1. ns-59.awsdns-07.com.
  2. ns-1504.awsdns-60.org.

Recomendations for Data Transfer between heterogeneous sources/destinations
cn flag

I apologize if this is not the right forum for this kind of question.

We need to transfer data between DB Servers (MySQL, MSSQL), CSV files, API Sources (Web Services), etc. and we are looking into a program/source that can do that for us. (Currently we have custom made programs, some SSIS flows, etc.)

Any recommendations?

Thank you.

How can I resize my default ubuntu lvm?
jp flag

I need to add to default ubuntu lvm partition +20GB space. How can I do it in my case? You can see output of lsbkl command below. This is my virtualbox VM, not production server, and all of this disks and partitions are free, include raid5. Can I use all of this stuff for extend purposes? What steps should I follow to achieve it?

Can't login to SSRS (SQL Server Reporting Services) using SSMS (SQL Server Management Studio)
ve flag

I'm having an issue logging on to my reporting server via SSMS. I use the same hostname\instance found in the reporting server config GUI at the top. This used to work, but I have made some changes recently to support a new SSL cert and now I can not connect. I feel like I might have messed up some config somewhere.

Can anyone tell me what things I should be checking to find out why I can't co ...

I've found tons of entries for this topic - but I've still not managed to get the following running:

I like to provide a new user for accessing a specific already existing folder, whose owner must not be changed. Folder permissions should be added by ACL's. The user must not access any other folder than that. The user should upload files in that folder.

I already tried configuring it with sshd - but ...

RD Gateway and Web Application Proxy and AD FS

I am trying to deploy an RD Gateway in combination with WAP (Web Application Proxy) and AD FS pre-authentication as described here.

For a "proof of concept", I've decided to deploy all RDS roles to one server. Simplified, my environment now looks something like this:

Where the server labeled "RDS" contains these roles:

  • RD Gateway
  • RD Licensing

How to safety delete a package/software which wasn't installed via package manager

I have an old Ubuntu Linux 20 install. I recently found that I have a bunch of software that I installed before I started fully using package management and I can't remember the details of the installations. I tried via apt but it says that those packages are not installed.

I thought I might just delete the folders with the software, but guess that might cause problems, since some of the software launch ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
