How do I update a very old CentOS release (6.2) where yum won't work at all because of outdated openssl certificates?
cn flag

I have an old CentOS 6.2 machine and need to update a few packages on it (or many packages, I suppose).

However I can't do anything with yum because even after changing the repos to vault.centos.org, yum spits out this error whenever attempting to download any packages:

The usual solutions to this error are "update openssl or certificate bundles" but of cou ...

I am aiming to get a 3 nodes proxmox cluster with 2 nodes connected to a DAS with this topology :

Circuit

The idea behind this configuration is to have an HA cluster and a HA storage. What I had in mind was to have a zfs pool accessible in an active/passive configuration between nodes and active/active betwen links of a node. This way, only one node writes to the DAS maximizing the use of the two  ...

Terminal server without audio card. Is virtual sound over rdp connections possible?
mx flag

I have a terminal server that is windows 2016. When I open sound in the botton right, it states that there are no devices that support sound (device manager doesn't show anything for sound either).

A few posts from close to 10 years ago discussed a Microsoft RDP Audio driver but I have been unable to locate this.

Are there any options to allow sound over the RDP connection without an actual audio ca ...

Format SFTP Logs to have Username on Each Entry

I'm running a production server (Debian 10, standard OpenSSH package) that has Pure-FTPD running for legacy connections and SFTP for all our current connections. The SFTP server is setup with a chroot jail that logs via a bound device in the user's chroot jail. How monitor open files and kill its PID by shell script?
fr flag

My system gets me an error that saying 'Too many open files'. I investigated this error and turned out that /usr/bin/uwsgi created sockets(?) more than 1020. If it creates more than 1020, I guess, the above error comes up with.

So What I try to do is to run a shell script that monitors the number of open files and if it exceeds more than 1000, to kill its PID to resolve this error at this stage.

How do you SSH in to an Azure VM through an Azure Bastion?
br flag

My initial understanding was that an Azure Bastion acts like a lightweight SSH (and RDP) gateway to resources -- specifically, VMs -- on the same virtual network, rather than provisioning a full VM as a jumpbox. That is, I would expect to be able to do this, from anywhere on the public Internet, to SSH into a VM on the same network:

ssh -i /path/to/private.key -J BASTION_IP user@VM_IP

Change Google Workspace primary domain & Google Play Developer ramifications

This is tangentially related to the forced upgrade of free Legacy GSuite accounts. My organization is using Legacy GSuite, but we also went through a rebrand a few years ago and now use a different domain as our primary "public facing" domain, though our Google login remains the original domain we signed up with. pure-ftpd : PassivePortRange in /etc/pure-ftpd/pure-ftpd.conf vs /etc/pure-ftpd/conf/PassivePortRange
us flag

I'm configuring the passive port range on an Ubuntu 20.04 server. pure-ftpd has both a PassivePortRange setting in the main /etc/pure-ftpd/pure-ftpd.conf file (commented-out by default) and a dedicated file /etc/pure-ftpd/conf/PassivePortRange.

I thing that /etc/pure-ftpd/conf/PassivePortRange has the priority, and the main one is used only if this specific file doesn't exist. Did I get it right?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
