After analyzing the docker-compose structure, I see that this image is composed of two services (app and db).

Currently, in a server, I have all docker based services running in a macvlan network so that they are visible to the rest of the devices in the network

How to mount a Windows UNC Path on ubuntu using PowerShell Core

Background: I have an ubuntu machine that hosts a couple applications that I am in charge of and I want to automate the backup of the database that powers these applications. I noticed that PowerShell is now cross platform, so I figured a simple script to run mysql dump and then move the dump file to a different server would fill my needs exactly.

Unfortunately, I seem to be stuck at mounting a  ...

DKIM: Can I safely add a DomainKey policy record without breaking existing email?
jp flag

I need to setup DKIM to validate an email provider we are using. In the provider's documentation, they require us to add two records, a selector record and a policy record, like this:

selector._domainkey.mydomain.com TXT "k=rsa; p=mykeyhere"
_domainkey.mydomain.com TXT "t=y; o=~"

I'm concerned about adding this new policy, because we have quite a few DKIM selectors setup in our DNS zone already, wit ...

How to avoid "Could not resolve host" inside Docker under heavy load?
us flag

the problem I am dealing with for months is explained very easy:

I am running PHP-FPM with docker, and whenever the server load is increasing I randomly get "Could not resolve host" errors (I guess from the curl extension).

I already changed the resolver-hosts in the docker config (i.e. google or cloudflare) and I also installed a local resolver to avoid any problems with the resolver of my hosting  ...

AWS SES subdomain email

Can I add CNAME and MX records to a subdomain hosted outside Amazon to work with AWS SES?

I have bill@example.com and jill@example.com.

  • I would like to leave bill as is while transferring jill over to use with AWS services. Can this be done?
  • Would I create a subdomain (eg. jill@aws.example.com) to handle sending and receiving with Amazon?
  • Would I be able to verify this subdomain with Amazon and  ...

How can I find out what triggered an app pool recycle inside a docker container that just started?

In AWS, a Task is placed on an EC2 instance, and an ASP.NET WebAPI 2 app is started in a docker container.

The application pool is configured to auto-start and remain always-on. The preloadEnabled setting is active to ensure overlapped recycling occurs correctly and Application_Start completes before serving requests ...

Bind9 with dyndns refuses to update one zone, works OK on another with the same key

I have a Bind9 server (RHEL 8.5) in my lab that was working perfectly fine until a couple of hours ago. Then, it stopped updating one of the 2 zones for which I have setup dynamic DNS.

The example.com receives the updates (add and delete records). However, the reverse zone is not working.

The configuration for both files is the following:

Set two IP addresses for parallel data transfers

AWS Fargate is slow when calling system commands. How do I debug it and what can be wrong?

I've been running my PoC on Fargate without many problems. It's a Micronaut Java app with not much happening on its own. I'm using the smallest 256mb/0.25CPU Fargate deployment.

I'm running a simple command from java code, prettier --version. Locally it takes less than a second, even when I'm running a container with 256mb/0.25CPU limits. On Fargate, though, it takes ridiculous 9-10 seconds. My containe ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
