I used the following syntax to add an IP address (10.0.0.1) to the restrited IIS 7.5 section for the whole server :

appcmd.exe set config -section:system.webServer/security/ipSecurity /+[ipAddress='10.0.0.1',allowed='False'] /commit:apphost

Very nice so far. The restriction is shown in the blacklist in IIS 7.5.

MySQL Dump on Ubuntu 20.04 returns 0 byte file and runs indefinitely. Works on Ubuntu 18.04
za flag

I am using identical configs on Ubuntu 20.04 as I was previously on 18.04; however, on 20.04 the CPU shoots up to 50% usage and the process runs indefinitely, and by indefinitely I mean it was running for over 24hr when I caught the issue. I am completely stumped on why this is not working on 20.04. Mysqldump is installed using the following command:

On a relatively simple remote network I'm trying to forward to one service on an internal host, but it is strangely not working.

The setup is like this:

How to pass a cloud config to LXD?
it flag

I've been to countless sites including this one, trying to figure out how to make LXD run a cloud-config when I launch my LXD container. Some places recommend setting up a profile (didn't work). Others recommend redirecting a YAML file into the lxc command (didn't work), and others recommend using the --config option and passing the file in that way (didn't work). Always-On VPN profile does not add custom route

My server is 2012R2. I deployed AOVPN according to Microsoft manual using PowerShell for clients deployment. It all works except custom route just does not appear on a client (tried on multiple Windows 10 and Windows 11 PCs) without any hints anywhere. DisableClassBasedDefaultRoute works.

I tried to modify recommended MakeProfile.ps1 with adding VPN connection via MDM_VPNv2_01 WMI class and add VPN co ...

I want to mirror an old website. This website is on https://example.com/website/. The website uses absolute links to http://www.example.com/website/.

Problem:
For whatever reason, wget cannot reach https://www.example.com (the www. folder), the connection will just timeout - no idea why, it works fine in the browser (neither can curl btw).

EC2 boot from Multi-Attach Amazon EBS
ru flag

Assume the following scenario:

  1. Create an io2 EBS volume from a snapshot of a running EC2.
  2. Enable multi attach and ask many EC2 to boot from this EBS.
  3. Every EC2 is the same and I can set up load balancing for them.

In short, I want many EC2 to be the same, using the same EBS.

My question is, can I do that? If can, how? If cannot, any alternative solution(s)?

How do you determine the location of a Vagrantfile from virt-manager?

vagrant global-status is supposed to provide information on all vms on a system, but I can see shutoff and running vms in virt-manager that are not listed by vagrant global-status. I have only used libvirt for Vagrant so I know Vagrant is the culprit.

How do I determine the associated directory/Vagrantfile for each of these vms?

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
