My systemd service with type as notify doesn't start when the server goes to stand by starts up again
in flag

The first time I set up my systemd service, it works fine.

However, when I restart the server, the systemd service doesn't start, but it remains on activating.

Could someone give any tip of why this is happening?

Monitoring/Alerting for DNS changes in Google Cloud

EK1

I am trying to set up alerting where I receive an email when there is a change to a DNS zone that is hosted with Google Cloud. The zone has a very low rate of change, so noise is not an issue and I am not very particular as far as what event can trigger the alert. For example, I can use the use of a dns.resourceRecordSets.delete method name as a trigger. Or I can generate an alert whenever a particular  ...

Scraping VNC server on Alma Linux 8 and Gnome

I am trying to get a scaping VNC server on display :0 (the physical display) working on Alma Linux 8 with GNOME (GDM 3.28.3). No matter what I try, I cannot get the actual display shared over VNC. We need to be able to have users log in inside VNC (x11vnc option -unixpw) and we cannot create new virtual desktops, it needs to be one shared desktop.

Goal: To block UDP traffic to devices on LAN-side of this gateway (using dd-wrt firmware), that communicate with internet and each other, to test specific communications applications running on each device.

Exceptions: allow the bare minimum UDP needed to support basic network operations for these devices to continue communicating (eg: via TCP) with internet and each other.

How can I find out which computer on my network is logging into Exchange 2016 and at what time
jp flag

Recently, multiple employees have come to me saying that their exchange accounts were breached over the time span of a few days. I have a theory that there is some form of worm on one of the computers within the domain that is periodically sending out spam/phishing links to customers and contractors. I have tried multiple AV scanners on all of the computers but they're all turning up empty.

How does "DROP all anywhere" in the FORWARD table not render my router useless?

I recently learned about IPTables and IP routing in order to configure a single-board computer to isolate a particular machine from the rest of my network, while still permitting it to access the internet, among a few other rules.

I decided to use this new knowledge to enhance the security of my embedded media devices (and maybe prevent them from displaying ads and reporting telemetry). I had an ...

Nginx make symlinks in autoindex link to their files but retain their name

I wanted a way for me to easily just rsync a directory up to my server and have a 'for short' way to download a file. Aka

I want auto index to retain the name 'foo1' in the HTML it sends over but for the href to link to download/very-long-file-name.zip. Currently the symlink does work as I enabled symlinks in my nginx.conf but it simply just downloads fo ...

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
