Can Autopilot PCs be required to be Intune managed?
tr flag

After recently having the Intune Wipe action fail to Wipe PCs though it removes the PC from Intune, I worry we could have more unmanaged yet fully functional PCs in the field. Is there a way to require an Autopiloted PC to be Intune managed, either by automatically re-enrolling it in Intune (preferred) or making it painfully obvious there is a problem? And, is there a way to find PCs that have escaped fro ...

How to limit who can upload to my webdav server
cn flag

I have a linux server (ubuntu 20.04) with apache2 and webdav setup so I can PUT my live output from a media encoder (MPEG DASH and HLS). This same server also hosts the media then for users (small user base), I feel a little exposed with webdav is there any way to just set it so that only specific IP addresses can upload whilst still offering open web access for downloading?

Apache sends garbage response when requesting a .jpg
ru flag

I am running Apache/2.4.38 (Raspbian). When requesting HTML and PHP everything works fine. When I request a .jpg file, apache seems to skip a few bytes at the beginning of the response header, and some garbage is included at the end of the payload.

Specifically, after GET /images/2.jpg HTTP/1.1 the response looks like:

Our Root cert has spaces in its name. (that was an obviously bad idea but it is what we have)

I am having issues publishing it now. I have tried editing the registry using %20 , I have tried delimiting it with quotes and it is not working. WHAT do we do to correct this as I cannot move forward with scep or any revocation work until I have resolved the CA server, unfortunately, is 2012R2 and the o ...

Why do screen and minicom drop incoming bytes from a serial port while cat does not?

I recently needed to reset the password on an old APC UPS which requires connecting their proprietary serial cable, hitting the reset button, and logging in with the default username and password over the serial interface. I connected it to the serial port on an R720XD, and passed the port through to a Ubuntu VM.

I used stty to configure the serial port according to APC's documentation, launched s ...

Local GPO on non-domain-joined Windows 10

I'm trying to get some clarification on how local GPOs work on Window 10. According to Microsoft's Configure Security Policy Settings page

You must have the appropriate permissions to install and use the Microsoft Management Console (MMC), and to update a Group Policy Object (GPO) on the domain controller to perform these procedures.

The impression I get from this is that a domain policy is necessa ...

How to configure DNS for Services and Pods in Kubernetes?
ru flag

I have been going through the K8s documentation on DNS for Services and Pods. The main task that I want to resolve is my K8s deployment has NodePort as service type. Meaning, I use the external IP addresses from the nodes to expose the service to the Internet. When I do this, my IP address is getting exposed and would rather prefer to have a hostname [ a DNS name]. Going through the documentation link ...

CentOS8 Stream - what is security context in files permissions and how it can affect access?
cn flag

I did install some of my aspnet core apps on Linux before using CentOS8. This time I used CentOS8-Stream. I dont know if that contributes to the issue.

The facts:

  1. I could not make apache use certificates. Everything was as I did before and yet it didnt work. Finally I found some obscure link on the internet which used ls -lrtZ /etc/pki/tls/certs to display security context (I didnt even know it exists).  ...

Create a DKIM key to provide to a 3rd party so we can send as them?

We use o365/Exchange Online. All our SPF and DKIM configs are good for our domain (including 3rd party senders).

Say we have a partner who has domain XYZ123.com (with their own mail servers) and they want us to be able to send as them (from our o365 Exchange).

So this is the opposite of what I've done in DKIM in the past, and can find no info on doing it in reverse.

The Stunning Power of Questions

Much of an executive’s workday is spent asking others for information—requesting status updates from a team leader, for example, or questioning a counterpart in a tense negotiation. Yet unlike professionals such as litigators, journalists, and doctors, who are taught how to ask questions as an essential part of their training, few executives think of questioning as a skill that can be honed—or consider how their own answers to questions could make conversations more productive.

That’s a missed opportunity. Questioning is a uniquely powerful tool for unlocking value in organizations: It spurs learning and the exchange of ideas, it fuels innovation and performance improvement, it builds rapport and trust among team members. And it can mitigate business risk by uncovering unforeseen pitfalls and hazards.

For some people, questioning comes easily. Their natural inquisitiveness, emotional intelligence, and ability to read people put the ideal question on the tip of their tongue. But most of us don’t ask enough questions, nor do we pose our inquiries in an optimal way.

The good news is that by asking questions, we naturally improve our emotional intelligence, which in turn makes us better questioners—a virtuous cycle. In this article, we draw on insights from behavioral science research to explore how the way we frame questions and choose to answer our counterparts can influence the outcome of conversations. We offer guidance for choosing the best type, tone, sequence, and framing of questions and for deciding what and how much information to share to reap the most benefit from our interactions, not just for ourselves but for our organizations.
