after installing ubuntu along with win10, windows not see any disk partition and not boot

us flag

I have a 500 gb hdd on my laptop pc. Before installing Ubuntu, I had 2 partitions C: and D: and win10 was installed on C:.

I installed ubuntu on D: partition. And i can see both c: and drives under Ubuntu and i can access files in both drives.

But when i select win 10 at startup not booting saying invalid boot device. I tried booting with win10 bootable dvd but it not detects any hard disk on system. I tried to both fix and reinstalling windows but there is no disk in install phase.

disks info under ubuntu is like here

file explorer under ubuntu

How can i fix this issue without losing data.

Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS

Thanks.

There are a few things off here. Your hard drive uses an MBR partition table which means you are limited to 4 partitions. A Windows 10 installation typically uses 4 partitions on its own. Windows 10 installs usually use GPT instead of MBR which is also going to be beneficial for a dual boot configuration on a single hard drive. "C" and "D" are designations used only by Windows and aren't relevant to other operating systems. I would suggest formatting (erase) the whole disk GPT and start over with a clean Win10 install.Leave *unpartitioned free space* to install Ubuntu after the Windows install

Don't use Windows tools to prepare partitions for Ubuntu. If you have unpartitioned free space with a preexisting Windows installation, you will get the guided option to "install alongside Windows" when you install Ubuntu. As far as data loss, you should restore from backups if you cannot mount partitions. Backups are essential especially before any time that you make changes to partitions or operating systems, in case something goes wrong or if you make a mistake, which it appears happened here.

You always have good backups before making any major system change, particularly partition changes. Grub only boots working Windows, so are you trying to boot Windows from Ubuntu's grub2 boot loader? Windows fast start up will prevent grub from booting it, so make sure that is off. With UEFI you can always boot either system from UEFI menu, but with BIOS you have to temporarily restore Windows boot loader with your Windows repair recovery drive, fix Windows, then restore grub with Ubuntu live installer. Or as suggested, backup your data & reinstall both in UEFI boot mode.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
