GeForce GT 710: Drivers installing forever

cn flag

I recently had to reinstall ubuntu (albeit an old version, 20.04) since my Ubuntu installation suddenly stopped booting for some reason (nothing's wrong with the pc)

But now when I try to install my GPU's drivers, it's just stuck at about 33%. It starts at this 33% and, even after an hour, it's still at 33%.

How do I do this? I'm downloading from Software and Updates. I've stared at a motionless progress bar for an hour and I'm starting to lose my sanity, so I hope that I can get this installed.

Edit: 5 minutes since I posted this, the progress bar still hasn't moved

Not directly, but trying it from the terminal seems to actually move a progress bar in the terminal, so in a way yes.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
