I am trying to install Ubuntu 20.04(LTS) on a Lenovo Legion T5 28IMB05. I downloaded the ISO and installed it on a USB drive.
After selecting the USB on the boot screen, I found myself at the "grub>" prompt. How to I get past that to boot the Ubuntu installer?
ETA: Typing "exit" (per another question I found) continues on to boot Windows.
ETA2: I eventually tried the 18.04 installer, which was able to boot and install (after which the new Ubuntu system upgraded itself to 20.04.)
Going through the "grub" manual:
My package_version is 2.04-1ubuntu 26.8
/boot has no files visible.
/boot/grub has a boot.cfg but no *.mod files
There is no file or directory visible for "vmlinuz" or initrd/initrd.img
ETA: My Ubuntu system is now working, but your question prompted me to double-check, and it seems to indeed still be running 18.04, despite the update-manager claiming it was moving me to 20.04. (Thanks for helping me notice that!)
I do have a new issue, which I was about to start researching, but now I'm not sure if I should try upgrading the version first.
For the record: My SSD, shared with Windows, is mounting both its partitions with the "noexec" flag, in direct defiance of the fstab entries. Both partitions also have a "msftdata" flag that gparted won't let me clear, that looks suspicious to me.
