I can't install Ubuntu without deleting the Windows Boot Menu

de flag

I downloaded Ubuntu onto a flash drive, but every time I attempt to install it, it only gives me the options of "Erase disk and install Ubuntu" and "Something else". Why is the option "Install Ubuntu alongside Windows 10" missing for me? I've made sure my computer is correctly restarted, checked I was on the right UEFI option, and checked that my Windows BIOS Mode is UEFI, all to no avail. I checked out a similar post (Dual boot Ubuntu and Windows?) and followed its directions, but I got confused since the partition resizing kept pending and never showed up when I clicked "Something else". I'm new to all of this, so thank you in advance for any help. Also, what does the stuff in the image here mean?

While gparted normally works to shrink NTFS parttions, when it fails because of a Windows issue, users blame Linux. Only use Windows to shrink NTFS partitions & immediately reboot into Windows to run chkdsk which is required after any resize. You may want more than 28GB for Ubuntu, depending on how much data you may save. https://help.ubuntu.com/community/UEFI Shows Windows screens https://askubuntu.com/questions/221835/installing-ubuntu-on-a-pre-installed-windows-10-with-uefi

@oldfred I tried following a more detailed tutorial on how to resize partitions for Ubuntu but got this message: An error occurred while writing the changes to the storage devices. The resize operation has been aborted. I'd appreciate any information you might know about why I'm getting this message. I checked out both the links below and tried to follow them but was stopped by this stumbling block. Thank you in advance for your help so far.

With gparted or with Windows tools. Windows may have files at end of its NTFS partition and Windows tools typically work better. You may need defrag in Windows & If problems, try temporarily disabling system restore, pagefile, (in advanced settings in computer properties) and hibernate option (in power management). Don’t forget to turn them on back later.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
