LVM with four disks - single volume across a pair of mirrors possible?

lu flag

In my possession I have four disks: a pair each of 500gb and a pair of slightly below 500gb, and both pairs feature different rotational speeds, cache size and other specs.

I was wondering if a balance between data redundancy and total size could be achieved, taking into account the disk pair's differing specs. What I propose is making a pair of mirrors for each disk type, and somehow writing a ~1tb total logical volume across the whole array.

I would prefer that all suggestions make use of LVM, as I am somewhat familiar with that already, but would welcome other suggestions. It may be useful to know that the system is running Xubuntu 20.04 LTS

You can put all 4 PVs into the same VG and specify the "correct pair" of PVs while creating an LV by appending the PV names at the end of `lvcreate` command.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
