Dual Monitor option not available in display settings (20.04)

id flag

[Screenshot of Display settings][1] The second monitor is not detected in the activities -> Display section it shows no option to detect/add a monitor as some older Ubuntu posts seems to indicate.

I brought the resolution down to 1280 x 720 (59.74 Hz) and restarted as the other monitor is an older Samsung SyncMAster 920NW that probably doesn't support the maximum resolution.

Additional info: I'm running Ubuntu 20.04.2 LTS (64 Bit). Thinkpad W520 i7 2720 QM Nvidia Quadro 1000M & Intel GPU

Nvidia currently set as primary GPU.

*Update: I reinstalled nvidia driver 390 based on the fact that it's the recommended driver. And the 1st boot after briefly activated the 2nd screen with Ubuntu logo. Now the boot process is halted showing Ubuntu logo on bottom of primary display with black background, but no login screen. So I am unable to login in.

*Update 2: Managed to boot into recovery mode. Removed nvidia drivers and booted with both monitors working. Not sure what driver is installed currently. Perhaps part pf the problem was the new drivers as I did a lot of work trying to get Starcraft 2 playable before. Not sure if that will still work now, at least I have dual screens.

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
