Ubuntu 20.04.1 will not enter suspended state

tr flag

My System76 Oryx Pro version orxp1 laptop, running Ubuntu version 20.04.1 will not allow me to put it into a suspended state, or shut it down. In either case, the laptop's screen goes completely blank for about 2 seconds, then resumes as if nothing had happened. The same issue occurs when I press Fn + F12 or select Suspend from the drop-down menu -- the screen goes blank for about 2 seconds, then turns back on.

I have tried some of the solutions posed on similar posts, for example, de-selecting the automatic lock feature in Settings, but that does not work either.

I am not sure why this is happening, as my computer has been working just fine for the past several days! To my knowledge, nothing had changed in that time. Any and all help/advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance!

Most people don’t grasp that asking a lot of questions unlocks learning and improves interpersonal bonding. In Alison’s studies, for example, though people could accurately recall how many questions had been asked in their conversations, they didn’t intuit the link between questions and liking. Across four studies, in which participants were engaged in conversations themselves or read transcripts of others’ conversations, people tended not to realize that question asking would influence—or had influenced—the level of amity between the conversationalists.
